Originally founded in 1865 as a pure trading company by Edmund Theodor Romberg, the company has expanded into various areas throughout its history. From a single company, it has become a group whose companies are still almost exclusively managed by a family member. Today, Romberg is an important part of this independent, medium-sized group of companies based in Ellerau, just north of Hamburg.

With the goal of supporting hobby gardeners, Romberg developed a propagation range specifically for individuals in the 1970s. As the first company in Germany, they developed a range derived from the professional sector for hobby gardeners.
The range now includes many propagation items from expanding pellets and propagation pots to seed trays and technically sophisticated systems for particularly ambitious plant enthusiasts. This allows hobby gardeners to carry out plant propagation cleanly, quickly, and with the highest level of success, as well as protecting delicate plants safely.

They are available in leading garden centers as well as in garden and hardware stores. Most of the products are manufactured in Germany, but various raw materials are also imported from European countries and Asia.
