Ethiopia Regular by ACE Seeds is a regular variety for growers and breeders who want to work with a true African sativa landrace. Within the ACE catalogue, it holds a special place because, as a pure third generation Ethiopian sativa, it combines a clearly regional subtropical genetic background with highly distinctive structure, remarkable resilience, and an unusual chemical profile.
In cultivation, Ethiopia shows a vigorous, tall, and strongly branched plant development with typical tropical sativa architecture and long internodes. The line feels open, airy, and at the same time highly resilient, which makes it especially interesting for growers who want to work with African landraces without immediately facing an overly delicate and hard-to-manage tropical line. It is precisely this combination of vigour, branching, and resilience that gives it a very distinct position within the ACE programme.
With a flowering time of around 13 to 14 weeks, Ethiopia belongs to the later finishing regular sativa landraces in the ACE range. Yield is considered high. The stated THC range is around 6 to 12 percent, CBD below 0.05 percent, CBG around 0.6 percent, and THCV around 2 percent. This measurable THCV content is one of the traits that makes the line especially interesting within the catalogue. Ethiopia is recommended for latitudes from 0º to 40º and shows average-high resistance to spider mites and white fly, high resistance to mould, very high resistance to botrytis, average-high cold tolerance, and high heat resistance.
One of the defining traits of Ethiopia is its clear adaptation to variable subtropical conditions. The line is regarded as resilient against humidity, wind, heat, and common outdoor stress factors, which makes it especially practical for an African sativa. To fully express its production potential, it benefits from warm temperatures and high light intensity, while still remaining more robust overall than many other long flowering sativa landraces.
Aromatically, Ethiopia moves in a classic African direction. It is described with a bouquet of earth, wood, flowers, musk, and fermented citrus notes. In the terpene profile, high levels of alpha-pinene stand out most clearly, followed by beta-myrcene, trans-ocimene, and beta-pinene, with phenotype-dependent smaller amounts of limonene and terpinolene. In the sesquiterpene fraction, beta-caryophyllene dominates, supported by alpha-humulene and, depending on expression, smaller amounts of trans-nerolidol. Combined with its clean, clear, uplifting, and highly usable daytime effect, this creates a landrace that stands out in the ACE programme not through brute force, but through clarity, origin, and chemical individuality.
