Hindu Kush comes from Andarab which is the name of a large stream in Afghanistan and of the valley it empties into. The stream which originates in the Hindukush, near Khawak Pass, and flows to the west for about 75 miles before merging into the Surkhab.
According to Afghan tradition, the name Hindukush means Hindu killer, but more probably it's a variant of Hindu Kuh, meaning Hindu mountains. The Hindukush system is the westernmost extension of the Pamir, Karakorum, and Himalayas. This part of the world has become a popular spot for cannabis in the past 10 years.
