Lemon Z by Dutch Passion
Lemon Z does not work through heaviness or dark depth, but through speed in the profile. The variety feels bright, sharp and clearly pushed forward. The direction is already present in the name, but it becomes fully convincing in the plant itself, because this is not a line that merely claims citrus and then fades into the background.
The cross of Lemon Skunk, Zkittlez and Lemon Tree gives the variety an unusually tight lemon focus. Sweetness and acidity do not pull apart here, but keep folding into each other. That makes Lemon Z not only fresh, but tense in a good way. It stays clearly on the brighter side without becoming flat or interchangeable.
In growth, the plant holds its frame together better than one might expect from such an aromatically loud line. The flowers come out relatively compact, sit densely and show a visible resin layer early on. Because of that, the variety does not turn into an airy citrus plant without weight, but into one that can carry profile and output at the same time.
With around 8 to 9 weeks of flowering, the cycle stays quick enough to keep the line from dragging on. Under good conditions, Lemon Z shows that it is not only about aroma, but also about output and a very clean finish. The earlier award therefore makes sense less as a sales point and more as a sign that the line was already attracting real attention before being refined further.
Lemon Z comes through as a tightly guided Dutch Passion variety with a sweet sour lemon core, dense flower structure and a kind of freshness that has far more pull than simple fruitiness.
